English is the official language of the United States so it makes sense that the official language in the classroom, too, be English. However, in the past ten years especially, the amount of immigrants enrolled in California schools is an overwhelming statistic. To not recognize Spanish speakers and integrate bilingual lessons in our school systems, is simply irresponsible. Both non-Speanish speakers and non-English speakers would benefit from a mutual understanding and bilingual tongue, especially from a business standpoint. We hold an obligation to educate our young generation so they too can carry on the reputation we have earned.
