I am a student of Bobbi Brett and my family is the first generation to come to America. My dad has taken ESL classes and he was the only member of my family to speak English. My mom have been working hard to make money but don't know English. Growing up to learn to speak Vietnamese at home and English at school was difficult. I had taken 5 years of ESL during school to help me pronoucinate and speak English better. It was hard because there was no one at home that could help me in my learning of English. As students learn the basic skills of writing and the rules or i before e and everything else, I was learning how to speak it. Once I hit middle school, I had no knowledge of the i before e rules and others that I didn't learn while taking ESL classes while they were learning. After many years of writing in middle school and after school help from teachers and mentor, my English got better.
